if i could … is a DEVELOPMENT WORKS programme, aimed at addressing the skills shortage challenges in Cape Town, South Africa. It is our mission to facilitate the placement of local and international graduates in the development sector. We work specifically with development projects in Cape Town, South Africa.

DEVELOPMENT WORKS is a specialist and well established development consultancy working closely with non-profit organisations, government, funding agencies and corporates. We offer…

Internship selection and placement
Placement of interns with relevant host organisations within the development sector. An assessment of both host organisation and intern, to ensure the most appropriate match.

Workshops, mentoring and support
Orientation workshops which serve as a platform to groom graduates for the work environment. Graduates would meet their mentors from the host organisation. A personalised and structured mentor programme will be developed for each graduate. An effective mentoring environment, skills transfer and empowerment will take place as the host organisation and the graduate benefit from one another. International graduates on the programme would also be able to meet their local South African and African student counterparts, to share their experiences, celebrate diversity and develop new friendships.
 

Travel and Touring
if I could… will initiate and also facilitate international
graduates' travel from their home country, by giving advice on visas, flights, accommodation and assisting with arrangements.

Pick up will be arranged from the airport for international graduates who will be escorted to their places of accommodation.

Orientation of Cape Town will be done upon the graduates arrival, to familiarise them with the city.

Over weekends, graduates will be able to visit the many interesting sites and be involved in leisure activities across the city. The if I could… team will give the relevant support throughout the internship programme to ensure a fabulous, rewarding and unforgettable experience in the Mother City.
